My Time With The Junior League

My Time With The Junior League

Amidst the throng of bands fighting for recognition and success in the district, the Junior League Band has made a name for themselves by playing a unique mix of bluegrass and indie-pop. Led by the singer and banjo player, Lissy Rosemont, they have built a house in DC and a home in the tender hearts of their fans.

The Long and the Short of It

The Long and the Short of It

The path that Middle Distance Runner treads is an original one, although not completely unfamiliar. For example, their music can be similar to bands like The White Stripes, The Strokes, and Gym Class Heroes, however they have carved out their own niche sound and preserved their singular qualities. One of their particular strengths is the ability to pair the odd and absurd with the sweet and divine, resulting in a repertoire of songs we have come to know and love.

On the Road with The Gypsy Sons

On the Road with The Gypsy Sons

When “the band” invites you to travel with them to a show, Rock and Roll law states that you must say “yes.” I was first approached by the Gypsy Sons to join them on their bus trip to Baltimore‘s Sonar for a battle of the bands competition at the DoS launch party. Upon receiving the invitation, I immediately jump up and down like a drunken “Rock of Love” cast member. I mean, how could I (or anyone) say no to great music, beer, and the chance to finally say “I’m with the band?”

What’s in a Name?

What’s in a Name?

One of DC’s own native sons, Jesse Tittsworth, returned to headline a stellar DJ line up at the 9:30 Club on December 19. The show also comes in support of his latest album, 12 Steps, which features all-star collaborations and the latest offerings from DJ Tittsworth. In short, the show was an all-ages dance party extravaganza and welcome home party for one of DC’s best and brightest DJs.

Sounds from the Basement

Sounds from the Basement

Maybe you’ve already perused our “Interview” section. Perhaps you even attended our launch party at DC9. If you have, you’ve most likely come in contact with the guys from Temporary Basement. The trio from VA were good enough to hand us a copy of their newest release, Interim.
