You Can Have Your Cake (and Kisses) and Eat It Too
Turns out you can have your cake (and kisses) and eat it too. District of Sound supports what Cake and Kisses organizers do every month, so much so that we had to go back and cover the party so readers could take another look into one of the best-loved underground DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) hip-hop parties in Northwest. The first Thursday of every month, the devoted core of DMV hip-hop fans gather at one of the few remaining dives on Adam Morgan’s 18th street strip, Asylum.

Q&A with Bonjour, Ganesh!
Say hello to Bonjour, Ganesh!, a young local band that mixes the fun with the fanciful. The group features everything from horns and brass to rip roaring vocals in a blend of rock, ska, jazz and pop. Always optimistic, their music has the ability to transform the ordinary into something special and unexpected. Guitarist and singer, Adam Rosenberg, answers some of our questions with highlights and quotes from other Bonjour, Ganesh! band members.
Q&A with Death By Sexy
Since 2005, Death By Sexy has been slaying audiences with their brand of relentless, righteous rock music. Original band members, Dex Fontaine and Jason Griffenhagen, and newest member, bassist and lead singer Christian Baldo, have recently released their first full-length album, Curse the Curse, which is getting airplay on local, college, and internet radio stations. DXS’ guitarist, Jason, answers some of DoS’ sexy questions.
Q&A with The B-Film Extras
This up and coming band is one to watch. Each song by The B-Film Extras (BFX) sounds different and unique, but all seem to suit them well—creating a musical signature that is both bright and ethereal. Their coining of the term “explosionism rock” to describe their sound is accurate, but thankfully not literal.
Q&A with Petworth
A little rock and roll never hurt anyone—not that we know of at least… and a dose of Petworth will do you some good. A three-piece DC band, Petworth is not afraid to grab your attention and to turn a few heads in the process. They love volatile guitar riffs, pulsating drumming, and lyrics embellished with a scream here and there—and we think you will too.
