It’s for the Kids! District of Sound Announces Spring Show

It’s District of Sound trivia time! What do babies, kisses in the morning, a little “Indie Soul”, and a 1949 Cadillac have in common? Here’s a clue: it’s not the inexplicable urge to wail uncontrollably. Give up? It’s District of Sound’s spring show featuring Junior League Band, Once Okay Twice, and DeVille and it’s all going down Saturday, May 2nd at the Rock and Roll Hotel! Where do the babies come in? The show’s proceeds will go to support music programs at The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health.

Don’t ‘Say Goodbye’ to these Crowded Streets

Don’t ‘Say Goodbye’ to these Crowded Streets

Like many mid-Generation Y-ers, I first heard Dave Matthews Band (DMB) when I was a freshman in high school. The catchy yet powerful jam band was completely intoxicating to ears that had spent years listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Green Day. In fact, DMB served as the soundtrack to many of my high school and early college-year experiences, including my first big-venue show in 1996. However, like DMB’s sound, my musical taste began to change and I eventually stopped buying their newest albums and tickets to their summer shows. It wasn’t until Crowded Streets—a DMB tribute band—that I was reunited with the music of DMB.

On the Road with The Gypsy Sons

On the Road with The Gypsy Sons

When “the band” invites you to travel with them to a show, Rock and Roll law states that you must say “yes.” I was first approached by the Gypsy Sons to join them on their bus trip to Baltimore‘s Sonar for a battle of the bands competition at the DoS launch party. Upon receiving the invitation, I immediately jump up and down like a drunken “Rock of Love” cast member. I mean, how could I (or anyone) say no to great music, beer, and the chance to finally say “I’m with the band?”
